ABOUT
After 40 years on world class concert stages and 24 years on home and international opera stages, Alexander is fortunate to have been described by the BBC as “England’s Mario Lanza” and "simply brilliant" by The Times. Alexander is one of the formost operatic and classical tenors to have emerged from the UK and performing internationally. He is an award-winning lyric-spinto tenor, known for his wide ranging vocal and stage versatility, huge range of repertoire (from Monteverdi to Verdi, from Palestrina to Puccini) and character interpretations: ""Risky as it is to say so, I do wonder if I have seen a more chilling performance of Peter Quint than that by Alexander Grove." (Sunday Telegraph - UK).
Alexander is a former boy chorister of St Paul’s Cathedral, London and later trained as an undergraduate and post-graduate at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and the Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto in Italy. His solo career spans the opera, oratorio, concert and musical theatre stages, television, radio and recordings: from recording with Steven Spielberg at Abbey Road Studios, London to performing to capacity crowds of over 30,000 per night in some of Europe’s largest venues such the O2 Arena, to 4.5 million on live television, to lead roles in opera houses around the UK and Europe such as the Royal Opera, London, to performing for both Queen Elisabeth II, the current King, Charles, and the President of the United States at the White House. Having trained under or performed with some of the world’s most respected artists such as Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Nicolai Gedda and Sir Georg Solti amongst many others, Alexander established himself early on and has been fortunate to have performed and toured all over the world from the USA to Japan and as far flung as Teatro Amazonas in the Amazonian rainforest.
In addition to performing, Alexander is a private vocal and stagecraft coach and visiting consultant. He supports students through his private studio Gothenburg Opera Studio as well as being a former Visiting Fellow of the University of Aberdeen and is often invited to teach or give masterclasses in stagecraft, vocal technique and stage fighting in institutions, opera houses and music colleges.
Through Vocalizzi Productions , Alexander promotes the artform in various different guises to a broader public. Commercially he is known as TENORI where he showcases the best of the tenor voice with a fresh commerical sound thorugh "crossover" or "opera pop", while maintaining and displaying the highest standards of vocal athletics through the world's greatest tenor arias and songs.
